The START
As the youngest of seven children, Jose spent much of his childhood in the kitchen alongside his mother, where the scent of fresh herbs and backyard-grown ingredients filled the air and sparked his love for cooking.
THE Vision
Those early experiences shaped his understanding of Puerto Rican cuisine—flavorful, soulful, and steeped in family tradition. With deep pride in his cultural roots, Jose brought his dream to life: sharing the authentic tastes of the island with his new community.



HUMBL(DOLT)E BEGINNINGS
Julissa, a Humboldt Park native, grew up surrounded by family and inspired by her mother’s entrepreneurial spirit. After running her own online pastry shop, she gained hands-on experience in the food business.
THE NOW
Now, as Executive Chef at Flor Boricua, she’s excited to share her passion for cooking with communities across Chicago—leading the kitchen, creating new dishes, and helping grow the brand throughout the city.
